Welcome to the website of West of New Bern Volunteer Fire Dept. (WNBFD)

We are a volunteer department with 55 active fire fighters and 5 Jr. firefighters. We provide fire suppression, fire prevention and rescue services in the Trent Woods, Clarks and Beach Grove / Spring Garden areas of Craven County. Our Fire District is approximately 25 square miles with a population of less than 10,000. We respond to approximately 300 calls per year that range from Fires, Motor Vehicle Accidents, alarm activations and good intent calls.

Our Fire prevention program visits Bangert Elementary and Garber Preschool yearly, and other groups when requested, to discuss fire safety. We average giving our fire prevention message to around 300 children annually. We have 3 stations, located in Trent Woods, Washington Forks and Industrial Park at Clarks and maintain 10 pieces of apparatus. 6 Engines, 2 Equipment Trucks, 1 Brush Truck and a Utility Truck that carries traffic control equipment.

We partner with our neighboring departments to provide manpower and equipment to them whenever we are needed.
